Footloose!
Footloose the Musical isn’t just another show for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, all of my shows hold a place in my heart. But Footloose is a little different. You hear stories all the time…I knew she was gonna be a star she sang and danced all the time….honestly, what kid doesn’t sing and dance all the time? But me, I always knew I would be on a stage. Always. At the age of 7 I asked a teacher who was involved in community theatre if I could be in one of her shows. The answer: Yes. The show: Footloose. Yes, true story. I was an ensemble dancer in Footloose in Stoughton, MA when I was 7 years old! Now, on Thursday, July 11, I am taking the stage as the lead - Ariel Moore, in Academy Players of RI production of Footloose in Providence, RI. I have the pictures to prove it! Footloose, was my first real taste of community theatre. My dad insisted they not take it easy on me because of my age, that if this is what I wanted to do, then I was gonna do it. All of it. I did it, not a complaint, I got to be in school with my friends all day and at night, sometimes till 10 - 10:30, I got to sing and dance with my theatre family. It was amazing! When I say family, I mean family, I am still friends with a lot of the people I knew back then today. It was the show that started my journey. Since that show, I have performed in many shows and in a variety of roles. I’ve been a spirit in A Christmas Carol, traded places with my mom in Freaky Friday, been to Neverland and back as Wendy, been to Solla Sollew as JoJo, took a trip down the rabbit hole as Alice and even rescued a spider as Wilbur in Charlotte’s Web. The fantasy of theatre is second to none! Every role is special and I keep a part of every character with me. I hope you can join me as I bring Ariel to life and hopefully you get to see a little of yourselves in me….Now, I get to add Bomont to that list….Bomont? Where in the hell is Bomont? See you soon!!
